Hole stabilizers |
 |
In
rotary drilling with rock bits or down-the-hole percussion hammers,
it is of great importance that a good stabilization be guaranteed.
Stabilization assures that the rock bits or hammer will rotate about
their own center thus causing energies and forces exerted on it
to be most efficiently utilized in an axial direction. Hole stabilizers
strategically positioned along the drill string, are employed for
this specific purpose, center the drill collars in the hole and
provide a better alignment.
CONSTRUCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS
- The body and blades are made in AISI 4145H alloy steel with
treatment over 285 - 345 Brinnel hardness.
- The right-lay spiral blades are welded to the body after oven
pre-heating. These stabilize the drill string to the center of
the hole over 360°.
- All blades are hardfaced with tungsten carbide such as TECNOWIRE
(HF 1000).
